Help!!! Tiny Mice.

My goodness, all of my crochet Christmas decorations seem to be overrun by tiny mice.

They appeared over night....
I am so sorry about the lack of posts over the past week or so. I do find it quite hard finding moments to blog when the boys are home on school holidays. It is soooooo good to be here even if it is for a quick minute.
Lots and lots and lots of love,
Kate xxooxx.
p.s. sorry about the quality of the photographs - the light is pretty appalling this afternoon (along with the weather).

Helloooo!!!

I am so sorry for my absence over the past week.... I have been looking after a sick little Hugo (they always seem smaller when they are unwell) who came down with a nasty throat infection replete with hight temperatures.
Life slows down at times like this so I have been working on little projects - see the jar filling up with all of my bits and pieces.
Hopefully I will have a more to show you tomorrow!
Lots and lots of love,
Kate xxooxx.

This Week's Books.

Just a little post as it is a busy day and I have already used up the lion's share of the morning watching the America's Cup. I don't know how to cope with the tension of it. I have to do some simple crochet while the race is on as my adrenalin gets a bit too fizzy. I am also worried that when the cup is over, I will be left with a morning t.v. addiction. I am hoping it's pretty unlikely, but it has been a wonderful thing ignoring all of my jobs around me and reaching for the remote control once the boys have been dropped off to the school bus.
So here are the books, enough to keep the family off the streets for another week. Thank goodness.
What are you reading this weekend?
Lots and lots of love,
Kate xxooxx.

Friends With Washi Tape and Other Good Things.

Today I have decided that I am the luckiest person in the world. "Why?' you might ask. Well, it just so happens that my friend Shar owns a beautiful flower shop and has started stocking washi tape. Not only that, but it's the most reasonably priced and most gorgeous(esest) in town!!!
So yes, I am pretty happy at the moment.
I always pop in to see her on Friday which is my town day. When you live in the country you need a town day. I even find myself putting on my better clothes for it - this includes wearing shoes rather than my much loved slippers.
I thought I would show some other snippets from her shop. This photo makes me fall in love with blue again.
And this one, pink and green. It is such a fresh combination. I stopped and stared here for quite a while. So lucky that Shar has known me for a few years now.

So there you go, a bit of colour for Friday. Tune in tomorrow for my new library books...
Lots of love,
Kate xxooxx.

Christmas Thoughts.

I am still beavering away on my tiny worlds for Christmas. There will be a tutorial on them soon but they are not quite there yet.

I had such good company this afternoon while I was making teensy bunting. There is nothing like a 7 year old boy working hard on his pictures next to you. The very definition of good company.
Lots and lots of love,

Tiny Houses for Tiny Worlds.

This weekend my project has progressed a little further with some tiny houses popping up.
You should see how small the people inside are.

Hope you have had a wonderful weekend.
Lots of love,
Kate xxooxx.

Book Time... and Surprise Babies.

Sorry about the quality of these photos - the light was a bit dodgy and I was worried that If I didn't capture the books while they were together, they would scatter around the house and the opportunity would be lost.
My favourite read this week was 'Gone Girl' by Gillian Flynn. A wonderful thriller that had such a wonderful twist midway through that I am afraid very little washing happened for our family for a couple of days. The book I am now reading (and adoring) is 'The River of No Return' by Bee Holloway. There is a bit of time travel, a bit of history and some great writing so this weekend is looking pretty unproductive too!
Now, as for the surprise babies, Hugo's chicken Chocolate Brownie surprised us all last night by suddenly appearing with 5 little babies. Hugo was so happy that he had become a grandfather... And as he pointed out to me, that I am now a great grandmother.
This is the state of my kitchen bench. I find it very hard to refuse Hugo's style of parenting. He is also going around the house wearing a back to front hoodie so that he can have a chicken nestled into his neck. They actually go to sleep!
I am so sorry, I can't help but sneak in my new tiny world. They seem to sprout up everywhere.
Have a lovely weekend.
Lots and lots of love,
Kate xxooxx.
p.s. What are you reading this weekend - have you been to the library this week?

More Tiny Worlds.

Too tuckered out for words tonight so I will let the photos do the talking.

A Tiny World Prototype.

My new project is trying to make little worlds for Christmas tree decorations, this is the first one off the block. Hopefully I will have a tutorial up soon (although I have a lot of work to do on the Stanley project first...).

This is just a little post today. Lots and lots of work waiting for me to say hello unfortunately... I went to the op shop the other day to by some more spoons for the boys (magicians in training). I came away with this beautiful two-handled teacup and a Limoges plate ($9NZ) to hang on my kitchen wall. The wool came from my favourite wool shop in town and I am sturggling (much better word than struggling) not to eat it as it is so ice creamily wonderful.

Lots and lots of love,
Kate xxooxx.

More Stanley Photos....

I was working on the last of the Stanley photos today (for those of you who are new to these parts, I am in the process of writing an unsolicited children's book - publishers take note...). Here I am showing happy Stanley how to act out his scene.
It's a fraught industry. Look at grumpy Stanley whispering catty gossip into miserable Stanley's ears. Thank goodness Stanley in the photo shoot didn't know what was going on behind the scenes.
Lots of love,
Kate xxooxx.

This Weeks Books + a Review!

I still have last week's books waiting for their photo to be displayed (it's been a busy couple of weeks) so I hope you don't mind skipping to this week's. I have had a good haul not only for myself, but also for the boys. I am a bit more prepared with the magic books and have bought a stash of spoons from the op-shop.
I have decided to have a book of the week, and this week the winner is 'Crochet at Play' by Kat Goldin. It is a very rare thing for me to borrow a book from the library and then think to myself that I must buy it. This is one of those times. I've photographed a few of the projects included in the book but there are so many more and they are all beautiful. My next challenge will be what to make.... How about I let the photos speak for themselves.

What have you been reading this week?
Lots of love,
Kate xxooxx.
